Strom Clone Privacy Policy
Last updated: 9 October 2026
Strom Clone ("Strom", "the app", "we") lets you run a second copy (a clone) of apps that are already installed on your phone, each with its own data and sign-in. This policy explains what information the app handles and why.
Summary
- Strom does not sell your personal data and has no account system of its own.
- The free version of Strom shows ads from Google AdMob. AdMob collects some device information to show and measure ads, as explained below.
- Strom Premium is sold as a subscription through Google Play. Google handles the payment; Strom never sees your card or payment details.
- Strom sends us crash reports and app diagnostics through Google Firebase Crashlytics, so we can find and fix problems. They contain technical information only, as explained below. Everything else Strom stores stays on your device and is deleted when you uninstall Strom.
Information the app handles on your device
- List of installed apps. Strom reads the list of apps on your phone (QUERY_ALL_PACKAGES) so you can choose which app to clone. This list is never sent anywhere.
- Data of cloned apps. Each clone keeps its own files, settings and sign-in inside Strom's private storage on your device. Strom does not read this data for any purpose other than running the clone.
- Accounts. If you sign in to a Google or other account inside a clone, that account is stored on your device for that clone only.
- Crash reports. If Strom or a clone crashes, Strom saves a technical log on your device and sends a crash report to us (see "Crash reports and diagnostics" below). The full log on your device only leaves your phone if you attach it to a problem report yourself.
- Premium status. Whether Premium is active, and until when, is stored on your device.
Permissions
Cloned apps run inside Strom, so Android sees Strom as the app that uses a permission. That is why Strom lists permissions such as camera, microphone, location, contacts, calendar, phone, storage, notifications and Bluetooth. Strom itself does not use them to collect information; they are passed on to the cloned app you are using, and Android asks for your permission first where it applies. You can revoke any permission at any time in your phone's settings.
Some permissions have a specific purpose in Strom itself:
- List of installed apps: to show the apps you can clone.
- Storage and media: passed on to cloned apps that open your photos, videos, music or files.
- Accounts: to let clones sign in to their own accounts.
- Notifications, foreground service, battery optimisation: to show a clone's notifications and keep a clone running while you use it, for example music that keeps playing in the background. While that happens the clone's own notification is shown.
- Alarms and reminders, calls: passed on to cloned apps that need them, for example a reminder or calling app running as a clone.
- Display over other apps, usage access: off unless you turn them on in your phone's settings. They are passed on to cloned apps that need them, for example chat heads, a caller ID popup or a screen-time app. Strom itself does not read your app usage or send it anywhere.
Strom cannot read SMS messages. Cloned apps that ask for SMS access are refused by Android, so verification codes have to be typed in by hand.
The version of Strom offered outside Google Play also uses "Install unknown apps", only to copy a game's expansion files (OBB) into its clone. It does not install apps with it.
Advertising
The free version of Strom shows ads, including optional rewarded ads that you can choose to watch to unlock Premium for a limited time. Ads are provided by Google AdMob. To show, limit and measure ads and to prevent fraud, AdMob may collect:
- your device's advertising ID, IP address and general (not precise) location;
- device and app information, such as model, Android version and language;
- interactions with ads, such as views and taps, and diagnostic data.
How Google uses this information: policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. Where the law requires it (for example in the EEA and UK), Strom asks for your consent before ads are personalised. You can reset or delete your advertising ID, or opt out of personalised ads, in your phone's Settings > Google > Ads (or Settings > Privacy > Ads). Premium users do not see ads.
Subscriptions and purchases
Strom Premium is sold through Google Play Billing. Google processes the payment under the Google Payments privacy notice. Strom only receives confirmation of your purchase (such as the product, a purchase token and whether the subscription is active) so it can turn Premium on. You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time in the Google Play Store under Payments & subscriptions.
Crash reports and diagnostics
Strom uses Google Firebase Crashlytics to tell us when the app crashes or one of its own health checks fails, so we can fix it. A report contains:
- the type of error and the lines of program code where it happened;
- for a clone that crashed, the package name and version of the cloned app;
- device information, such as the phone model, Android version, free memory and storage;
- Strom's version, and a random installation ID that Firebase creates for Strom on your device (it does not identify you).
Reports do not contain your messages, files, accounts, contacts or anything you do inside a clone; the text of an error message is left out because it could contain such data. Reports are used only to fix Strom, are processed by Google under the Firebase privacy and security terms, and are kept for up to 90 days.
Third-party apps and services
- Apps you clone work the same as the original apps and may send data to their own servers under their own privacy policies. Strom does not control or see that data.
- Google sign-in support inside clones talks to Google servers when you sign in to a Google account inside a clone, and when cloned Google apps or notifications need Google services. Google's privacy policy applies: policies.google.com/privacy.
- Share, Rate and Feedback open other apps on your phone (such as Google Play or your email app). Anything you send there is handled by that app.
Feedback and problem reports
If you use Settings > Feedback & support, Strom Clone fills in an email in your own email app. It contains what you wrote, which app the problem is about, the app version, your phone model and Android version, and any screenshots you chose to add. For a problem report you can also leave "Include technical details" on: this attaches a text file with app versions, why Strom's processes recently stopped, and recent entries from Strom's own diagnostic log. Nothing is sent unless you press Send in your email app, and we use it only to answer you and fix the problem.
Children
Strom is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them.
Deleting your data
Uninstalling a clone deletes that clone's data. Uninstalling Strom deletes all data Strom stored on your device. Crash reports are deleted automatically after 90 days. Strom keeps no other data about you on any server; to ask for crash reports from your device to be deleted sooner, email us.
Changes to this policy
If Strom starts handling information differently, this page will be updated and the date above changed.
